Steve Sarkisian feels more comfortable in second year with Falcons

Falcons offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian didn’t have to dig too deep to find the area where his unit needs to improve during the 2018 season.

Sarkisian said on Wednesday that the Falcons didn’t score enough points last year as they went from scoring 33.8 points per game in 2016 to 22.1 points per game in the coordinator’s first season with the team. They added wide receiver Calvin Ridley in the first round of the draft to address that shortcoming, but help may also come from Sarkisian settling further into the job.

Sarkisian said his comfort level this year is night and day to where he was at this point last year and suggested that will help the offensive pieces go together in better ways this year.

That’s because the President realized it was a winning play for him, which means he’ll continue to run it against an NFL defense which hasn’t been able to stop him yet.

If Guenther wants Mack in the fold, Guenther perhaps would be better off talking directly to coach Jon Gruden, who by all appearances is running the show in Oakland, about making Mack an offer he won’t refuse. Calling out a player whom Guenther has proclaimed to be the centerpiece of the team’s defense probably isn’t the best way to make that player happy.

Or, as the case may be, it probably isn’t the best way to make him less upset.

While Mack has been keeping his cards close to the vest, he’s surely not thrilled with the team’s ongoing failure to put together the kind of package that would represent fair compensation for his services, based on what he has done during his first four NFL seasons and what he can be expected to do moving forward.

Mack is due to make $13.846 million in 2018, the option year that extends his rookie deal from four seasons to five. The Raiders could keep him around through 2020 via the franchise tag, with a Kirk Cousins-style day of reckoning coming in 2021.

We’re 100 days away from start of 2018 NFL season

You: Leisurely dipping into the joy of a new summer, grilling juicy steaks, spending days at the beach, brushing off all human responsibility to live a little.

Us: Still thinking about football. Always.

2. As for the quarterbacks, Matt Ryan (95-63) sits just five wins away from hitting the 100-victory line, which would vault him into a stellar group of passers led by Tom Brady (196), Drew Brees (142), Ben Roethlisberger (135), Eli Manning (111) and Philip Rivers (106).

To Ryan’s credit, every signal-caller on this list was drafted at least four years before him.

3. Plenty of those quarterbacks appear again in our next pulse-pounding factoid outlining signal-callers who posted the most starts with a 100-plus passer rating in 2017. This isn’t the feat it once was — and there’s 100 reasons to throw stones at QB ratings — but here’s the list anyway, dear reader:

Youth sports give children and young adults a unique opportunity, Ivanka Trump, daughter and assistant to the president, said on a conference call with reporters in advance of the event. Every child in America deserves equal access to play.

The New Jersey students are being brought to the White House by Angelo Valente, executive director of the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, which has worked with the school.

The partnership is one of 13 outside groups participating along with President Trump and Ivanka Trump, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams, and Rivera, Walker and other athletes who are to be named to the president’s council.

Encouraging young people to be involved in sports and fitness programs is certainly a very positive step, Valente said. That’s a very important aspect of encouraging young people to not experiment with illicit drugs.

What a ride it’s been already this season for Andujar and Torres.

Torres’.321 average leads Yankees regulars and Andujar is next at.297.

We’re a good defensive group, but we weren’t tonight, Marchessault said. They’re a team that’s very fast in the neutral zone, and we gave them too much respect with the puck. We need to be faster in the defensive zone. We’re going to fix that in our game.

The Game 1 winner has won the last six Cups and 61 of 78 overall.

Braden Holtby stopped 28 shots for the Capitals, whose first Stanley Cup Final game in 20 years was a defensive nightmare. Washington still played a strong offensive game and had chances to win, but never slowed the Knights.

The Capitals, led by Alexander Ovechkin, lost the series opener, 6-4, on Monday.

After 10 goals and a Final-record four lead changes overall in a fantastically entertaining opener, it’s tough to imagine what these unlikely opponents will do for an encore.

But the upstart Golden Knights have spent their entire inaugural season speeding past all expectations, and their first Final game didn’t slow them down in the slightest.

Everyone, regardless of race or socioeconomic status, deserves to be treated equally. We are fighting for racial and social equality, he wrote in part.

Simply Google: ‘How many Philadelphia Eagles knelt during the national anthem last season?’ and you find that the answer is zero. A similar Google search will show you how many great things the players on this team are doing and continue to do on daily basis.

Instead the decision was made to lie and paint the picture that these players are anti-America, anti-flag and anti-military.

Jason Witten retires, to join Monday Night Football as analyst

Jason Witten is retiring from the Dallas Cowboys and joining ESPN as an analyst for Monday Night Football, multiple sources told ESPN on Thursday.

Witten wrestled with the decision for the last week, alternating almost hourly between taking the job and playing a record 16th season for the Cowboys. He has told owner and general manager Jerry Jones and coach Jason Garrett of his decision.

Buffalo announced Friday that ex- Panthers linebacker Dan Morgan will take over as the team’s new director of player personnel, filling a void left by Brian Gaine, who took the Texans ‘ general manager job this offseason.

Sheffield knew he probably wasn’t making the big team, but he badly wanted to pitch well in his few Grapefruit League outings to position himself for a possible early season call-up if the Yankees needed a starter.

And so, struggling through a three-run, 1 2/3-inning relief appearance facing the Phillies in Tampa on his last day in Yankees camp was very frustrating.

A day later, Sheffield was over it though when he showed up for work at the Yankees’ minor-league complex. He wanted to finish spring training strong to prepare for a new upcoming challenge.

After having a very good 2017 season as a young Double-A player and then faring well in the tough Arizona Fall League, Sheffield was thinking it was a sure thing that he’d open 2018 as a starter in Triple-A for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Yankees farm director Kevin Reese was the one breaking the bad news to Sheffield that management wanted him repeating Double-A at least to start the year.

Sheffield couldn’t believe it.

Last year, Always Dreaming lived up to his favorite status, cruising to a relatively slow 2:03.59 on a sloppy track after rain dampened Churchill Downs throughout the day.

In Jackson’s case, they began as a freshman in 2015, when he set the school’s single-season rushing record for a quarterback with 960 yards. The following year, Jackson’s legs and throwing arm helped him become the youngest Heisman Trophy winner (19 years, 338 days) to date.

And while he didn’t capture the award again in 2017, Jackson Cheap Infant NFL Jerseys posted almost identical rushing and passing statistics while improving Cheap Jackie Robinson Jerseys his completion percentage from 56.2 to 59.1. That proves complacency never set in.

Arrest warrant issued for Jets’ Robby Anderson after he skips court date

Troubled Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson is in trouble again.

A warrant was issued for his arrest Tuesday in Broward County, Fla., after he failed to appear for a court date.

In addition to the misdemeanor reckless driving charge for the January incident in Broward County, Anderson also faces legal issues in Miami, stemming from his arrest there last May. He allegedly pushed a cop during a dispute at a music festival.

Anderson’s trial for that incident begins Aug. 6, during Jets training camp. He is charged with felony resisting an officer with violence.

Anderson faces a potential NFL -imposed suspension as a result of the two arrests. The NFL usually waits until a player’s legal cases have concluded before it hands down a suspension.

Anderson was the Jets’ leading receiver last season 63 catches, 941 yards, and seven touchdowns.

Should UTEP’s Will Hernandez and/or Ohio State’s Billy Price slide, either guard would be a good value for Dallas in Round 2. The same goes for the draft’s top two tight ends, South Dakota State’s Dallas Goedert and South Carolina’s Hayden Hurst. At that latter position, at pick No. 81, Penn State’s Mike Gesicki or Oklahoma’s Mark Andrews would be a fine choice.

In the event Payne, Hurst or Bryan don’t get the call from the Cowboys on the first day, Dallas is better off waiting until the third day to address defensive tackle. For now, a tight end-linebacker combination is most likely here.

Poona Ford, DT, Texas: Ford was not invited to the NFL Combine because he was undersized (5-11, 303 pounds) for his pro position. But he’s relentless against the run with his powerful lower frame. He is a strict 4-3 tackle prospect and won’t provide much in terms of inside pass rush, but his stock has been on the rise, as his determination can allow him to play bigger than his size. Ford’s plugging could benefit from Rod Marinelli’s coaching enough for him to become a consistent part of the Cowboys’ early-down rotation.

When Prescott entered the league, he took advantage of playing beside Elliott and inheriting an elite line. But now it’s time for Dallas to give its QB more skill-position help so he can take the so-called next step as a complete, athletic passer. While the defensive front seven Cheap Hockey Jerseys From China takes some priority, expect the overall haul to lean toward supporting the team’s franchise Cheap High Quality Jerseys quarterback.

2018 Offensive Coordinator: Bill Musgrave

The Denver Broncos will give it another shot with coordinator Bill Musgrave, who took over last season for Mike McCoy after a miserable offensive stretch. But we’re still talking about a team that was afraid to give 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch serious run—to the point it splurged on a free-agent quarterback.

That’d be Case Keenum, the one-hit wonder who heads over from Minnesota after sheer brilliance from the offensive staff there. That’s not to say Keenum can’t perform well again—but his 22 touchdowns still don’t jump off the stat sheet.

Despite receiving weapons such as Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, not to mention 2018 rookie steals Courtland Sutton and Daesean Hamilton, the Broncos are once again banking on an elite defensive performance.

Cooper Kupp led the team in receiving with 869 yards and had five touchdowns. Brandin Cooks will join him after one year with the New England Patriots where he caught seven touchdowns, giving him seven in three consecutive seasons.

The Rams do what they want on offense thanks to supreme balance and scheming, which won’t change anytime soon—especially not with the huge boost to the wideout corps.

The hope seems to be a Frank Gore-Kenyan Drake combo can prop up Tannehill, a career 62.7 percent passer with 106 touchdowns, 66 interceptions and seven yards per pass. But the addition of offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains isn’t encouraging. He left Chicago after an impressionable rookie, Mitchell Trubisky, started taking snaps under center in his miserably conservative offense, and Miami’s depth chart is even worse.

Like the Bills, defense will carry the Dolphins in 2018.

The Kansas City Chiefs got risky, promoting Eric Bieniemy to offensive coordinator from running backs coach right as they waved goodbye to the Alex Smith era after his career year.

Luckily, the Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes.

Last year’s No. 10 pick had an encouraging performance during a Week 17 win over the Broncos, lending credibility to the idea he’ll do fine as a sophomore quarterback.

It helps that the Chiefs have Kareem Hunt, last year’s 1,327-yard runner Cheap Goalie Jerseys who had eight touchdowns on a 4.9-per-carry average. Also returning are Hill and Cheap Full Dye Softball Jerseys Kelce, reliable targets who one year ago both hit the 1,000-yard mark while combining for 16 touchdowns.

An expected business move on the football side of the house in Pittsburgh occurred Wednesday afternoon.

The Steelers placed linebacker Ryan Shazier on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, which effectively ended Shazier’s chances to play 2018, the team announced. He will not count against the team’s 90-man offseason roster.

Shazier, 25, suffered a spinal injury against the Bengals in Week 13, and then underwent spinal stabilization surgery on Dec. 6.

Since then, he has served as an inspiration by appearing at high-profile events, such as being at Heinz Field during the Steelers showdown against the Patriots on Dec. 17, and standing at the Penguins’ playoff game on April 11.

Shazier also provided one of the top emotional moments during the opening night of 2018 NFL Draft when he walked across the stage holding the hand of his fiancée, Michelle, to announce the Steelers’ first-round pick on Virginia Tech safety Terrell Edmunds.

All those guys return in 2018. And the big add is Cameron Meredith, a restricted free agent they swiped from the Chicago Bears. Meredith was a breakout stud in 2016, tallying 888 yards and four touchdowns before hurting his knee and missing 2017. Keep in mind those numbers came while catching passes from Matt Barkley and Brian Hoyer.

Don’t forget about interesting wideout depth in the form of Ted Ginn and Brandon Coleman, as well as third-round rookie Tre’quan Smith. Brees is cooling off on the quantity, but the quality is still there, and with Meredith’s breakout potential joining the fray, there is little defenses can do to stop it.

I think just accepting that this happened. Not sulking about it. To me, that was the biggest mental hurdle. The biggest physical hurdle was probably going out under the lights. The lights were something that kind of triggered some symptoms for me. I was fighting that and just not being happy that I was in this scenario the whole time.

When Frazier is ready to return to the majors, his future is uncertain, with a crowded outfield in the Bronx featuring Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Brett Gardner and Aaron Hicks.

The NFL players’ union says former San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid filed a grievance against the league, alleging that he remains unsigned as a result of collusion by owners. Reid had joined former teammate Colin Kaepernick two seasons ago in kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality and racial inequality. Kaepernick wasn’t signed Cheap Fan Jerseys for the 2017 season following his release in San Francisco. Reid continued the quarterback’s protests. The Cheap Elite Jerseys 26-year-old safety became a free agent this offseason when his rookie contract with the 49ers expired.

Cowboys’ draft picks: Projecting 2018 first-rounder, late-round sleepers

The Cowboys were quiet in NFL free agency thanks to limited money under the salary cap. They have the volume of picks to make a lot more noise in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Dallas is sitting on 10 total draft selections as they try to rebound from a 9-7 season that kept them short of a return to the NFC playoffs. Although they are not too desperate at any one position, the Cowboys need to keep getting a jump on the eventual changes tied to age and expiring contracts.

We take a deep dive into what Jerry Jones and Dallas will and should be thinking come NFL Draft weekend.

Wide receiver: Dez Bryant, who turns 30 in November and has seen his play fade, was cut. Terrance Williams, a shaky No. 2, anyway, turns 39 in September and is coming off a broken right foot. With Cole Beasley, Ryan Switzer and newcomer Allen Hurns, the Cowboys have plenty of options in the slot, so the focus should be on a big-target replacement for Bryant and a big-play upgrade from Williams on the outside.

Tight end: Jason Witten turns 36 in May, and 2018 probably will be last NFL season for the future Hall of Famer. Whether Witten hangs it up after this year or next, it’s high time to line up a replacement receiving threat. Gavin Escobar didn’t quite work out five years ago.

I don’t see Gettleman trading down unless he gets a Jared Goff- or Carson Wentz-type offer of multiple high draft picks, including several first-round choices over a couple years, from a quarterback-starved team. And even then, Gettleman would not want to move out of the top 10 since that’s about how many blue chip players (i.e. likely Pro Bowlers) are in any draft. He never traded his first-round picks as Panthers GM, and I don’t think he’ll change his M.O. this year.

I see Gettleman taking the highest-rated player on his draft board regardless of position, and he likely will have Barkley and Chubb graded higher than the QBs in this class. He might even have a few other players such as guard Quenton Nelson rated above the QBs.

I also feel Gettleman will pass on the quarterbacks because he believes Eli Manning can still be effective with the right supporting cast and that, at age 37, the QB can play Cheap Paintball Jerseys several more years, a la his brother Peyton. Gettleman also remembers the great years of Eli; he was a Giants player personnel man when Manning was drafted and when the QB led them to Super Bowl titles Cheap Official Jerseys in 2007 and ’11. Gettleman also realizes Manning was a playoff quarterback just two years ago.

The Saints and Pelicans ownership passed to Gayle Benson, who emphasized her commitment to both teams in an email sent to fellow NFL and NBA team owners.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday that Cleveland has engaged in a lot of conversations about the No. 4 pick, according to sources.

One decision-maker called the fourth-overall slot a pivotal point in the draft, which makes plenty of sense. No. 4 is exactly where quarterback-needy teams would effort to land in order to get ahead of the Broncos.

Aside from starter Cam Newton, the only other signal-callers on Carolina’s roster are Garrett Gilbert and Taylor Heinicke. Combined, they have thrown exactly one NFL pass. That attempt belongs to Heinicke, who threw one pass for the Texans in relief of  T.J. Yates against the Steelers in December. On the second drive of his career, Heinicke suffered a head injury as he was sacked and had to be taken off of the field.

Meanwhile, the Saints will look to build on the success of last year’s draft, which produced cornerback Marshon Lattimore, running back Alvin Kamara, free safety Marcus Williams and offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk, among others.

But Loomis understands this time around has unique challenges, especially when considering the Saints currently have just a first-round pick (27th overall) and a third-round pick (91st overall) within the top 100.

Witten’s $4.7M contract bonus wasn’t paid to him prior to retiring, per Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan.

After the Cowboys selected him in the third round of the 2003 draft, Witten became one of the most consistent tight ends in the league. He was named to 11 Pro Bowls and earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2007 and 2010.

Witten retires having set Cowboys franchise records in receptions (1,152) and receiving yards (12,448). He’s also one of the most prolific tight ends in NFL history. According to Pro Football Reference, only Tony Gonzalez has more receptions and yards, while Witten’s 68 touchdowns put him at sixth-best for the position.

There’s no questioning Witten’s production over his career, but he Buy Cheap Jerseys Online was showing clear signs of a decline in recent seasons. He hadn’t cracked 1,000 yards receiving Best Place To Get Cheap Jerseys since 2012, and his 560 receiving yards in 2017 marked his lowest total since his rookie year.

Here is Dave Gettleman’s prepared statement on Odell Beckham Jr.

Giants general manager Dave Gettleman walked onto the patio at the Ritz Carlton on Tuesday afternoon carrying a piece of paper with some handwritten notes in blue ink.

Gettleman had just come out of a closed-off ballroom at the NFL Annual Meetings.

In the aftermath of the Minnesota Miracle, there was mass confusion. The suddenly victorious Minnesota Vikings were giving on-field interviews, while the New Orleans Saints were slowly trudging off the field and into the locker room.

But there was unfinished business. With a five-point lead and no time left on the clock, Minnesota was still required to attempt the extra point. So the Saints trotted out a motley crew of defenders, including punter Thomas Morstead, to line up against Minnesota’s two-point conversion attempt.

Count that instance as the last of its kind.

The real solution to the problem of ticky-tack pass interference penalties is to let ’em play and only call the most flagrant fouls. Football is at its best when both the receiver and defender go all-out to play the ball. It will help that neither will be required to fill out mortgage paperwork to prove that he caught it.

Tuesday’s decisions mean that we’ll get more receptions, more interceptions, fewer flags and fewer stoppages by September. And that sounds marvelous after what we have seen on the hardwood this March.

The NCAA basketball tournament has been chock-full of historic upsets, overtime duels and inspirational nonagenarian nuns this year. But every year, more and more college basketball games are marred by interminable replay reviews, as officials obsessively try to correct every Hockey Cheap Jerseys late-game call.

Yes, a billion brackets hang on every close call, and we’d love March Madness even if the clock stopped every possession for a commercial. But we’d love it even more if it didn’t take Wholesale Cheap Jerseys China 15 minutes to play the final minute of a game.
