It took the Cubs 108 years to get the World Series trophy, and 7 months to break it

The World Series trophy is stylish, beautiful, and quite spindly. Theo Epstein should have remembered this from winning one with the Boston Red Sox, but alas he did not learn the lesson. The Commissioner’s Trophy needed repair after reports that several of the flags snapped off the top of it.

How does this happen, you might ask. Well, by bringing it on stage with Eddie Vedder and having the crowd pass it around.

Here’s what happened, according to the Chicago Tribune:

Epstein is shown on stage playing guitar while Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder sings and the trophies are being passed around the room.

“A handful of (the 30) flags came off the trophy during the event Saturday night,” Cubs vice president of communications and community affairs Julian Green told the Tribune. “(It) was repaired and was on display Sunday (at Fenway along with the Red Sox trophy).”

Launch angles. Daniel Murphy has a briefcase handcuffed to his wrist, and he keeps the launch angles in there. Someone needs to get that briefcase.

While I will put Wieters and Werth down in the “It’s still April, have some Best Place To Buy Cheap Jerseys perspective” AFL Cheap Jerseys category, the idea that Wieters will contribute above-average offense from the catcher’s position is unfair. The Nationals didn’t need that if they were going to get contributions from Zimmerman, if Harper was playing like an MVP again, if Murphy was the same hitter he was last year, if Turner was a burgeoning star.

Which NFL reporters do and do not tweet draft picks ahead of time?

If you’re on Twitter during the NFL draft, you’re familiar with the debate of whether draft spoilers are good. As reporters simply doing their jobs, some NFL beat writers take to Twitter and break news on draft picks as they learn which team will take which player.

The league says it annually combs through approximately 3,000 names who are eligible for the draft.

Obvious places to be seen by team scouts are the NFL Combine and individual schools’ pro days. Often, a small school will do a joint pro day with bigger schools nearby, so just about all prospects should be able to get in front of NFL personnel.

You can theoretically enter the draft if you went to college and didn’t play a lick of college football, but four league seasons must have passed since you started college.

Every college football player at least has the dream of playing the NFL. Of course, some of those are closer to reality than others. If you fit in these criteria, you could join them in the hopes that your name will be called in the NFL Draft.

Elflein has three years of experience at Ohio State in varying positions along the offensive line. He told teams at the combine that he’d be willing to line up at right or left guard and center or some combination of the three. His successful transition to center speaks to the level of acumen the Buckeye has for his position group and to his ability — and willingness — to be versatile as needed.

The lineman also had the privilege of competing against some of the league’s most talented defenders every day in practice at Ohio State. Elflein admitted at the combine that having to go up against players like Joey Bosa, Johnathan Hankins, and Ryan Shazier in college should help his transition to the NFL. With so much experience competing at a high level, the incoming rookie could see a significant snap Cheap Authentic NHL Jerseys count this fall.
