Arrest warrant issued for Jets’ Robby Anderson after he skips court date

Troubled Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson is in trouble again.

A warrant was issued for his arrest Tuesday in Broward County, Fla., after he failed to appear for a court date.

In addition to the misdemeanor reckless driving charge for the January incident in Broward County, Anderson also faces legal issues in Miami, stemming from his arrest there last May. He allegedly pushed a cop during a dispute at a music festival.

Anderson’s trial for that incident begins Aug. 6, during Jets training camp. He is charged with felony resisting an officer with violence.

Anderson faces a potential NFL -imposed suspension as a result of the two arrests. The NFL usually waits until a player’s legal cases have concluded before it hands down a suspension.

Anderson was the Jets’ leading receiver last season 63 catches, 941 yards, and seven touchdowns.

Should UTEP’s Will Hernandez and/or Ohio State’s Billy Price slide, either guard would be a good value for Dallas in Round 2. The same goes for the draft’s top two tight ends, South Dakota State’s Dallas Goedert and South Carolina’s Hayden Hurst. At that latter position, at pick No. 81, Penn State’s Mike Gesicki or Oklahoma’s Mark Andrews would be a fine choice.

In the event Payne, Hurst or Bryan don’t get the call from the Cowboys on the first day, Dallas is better off waiting until the third day to address defensive tackle. For now, a tight end-linebacker combination is most likely here.

Poona Ford, DT, Texas: Ford was not invited to the NFL Combine because he was undersized (5-11, 303 pounds) for his pro position. But he’s relentless against the run with his powerful lower frame. He is a strict 4-3 tackle prospect and won’t provide much in terms of inside pass rush, but his stock has been on the rise, as his determination can allow him to play bigger than his size. Ford’s plugging could benefit from Rod Marinelli’s coaching enough for him to become a consistent part of the Cowboys’ early-down rotation.

When Prescott entered the league, he took advantage of playing beside Elliott and inheriting an elite line. But now it’s time for Dallas to give its QB more skill-position help so he can take the so-called next step as a complete, athletic passer. While the defensive front seven Cheap Hockey Jerseys From China takes some priority, expect the overall haul to lean toward supporting the team’s franchise Cheap High Quality Jerseys quarterback.

2018 Offensive Coordinator: Bill Musgrave

The Denver Broncos will give it another shot with coordinator Bill Musgrave, who took over last season for Mike McCoy after a miserable offensive stretch. But we’re still talking about a team that was afraid to give 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch serious run—to the point it splurged on a free-agent quarterback.

That’d be Case Keenum, the one-hit wonder who heads over from Minnesota after sheer brilliance from the offensive staff there. That’s not to say Keenum can’t perform well again—but his 22 touchdowns still don’t jump off the stat sheet.

Despite receiving weapons such as Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, not to mention 2018 rookie steals Courtland Sutton and Daesean Hamilton, the Broncos are once again banking on an elite defensive performance.

Cooper Kupp led the team in receiving with 869 yards and had five touchdowns. Brandin Cooks will join him after one year with the New England Patriots where he caught seven touchdowns, giving him seven in three consecutive seasons.

The Rams do what they want on offense thanks to supreme balance and scheming, which won’t change anytime soon—especially not with the huge boost to the wideout corps.

The hope seems to be a Frank Gore-Kenyan Drake combo can prop up Tannehill, a career 62.7 percent passer with 106 touchdowns, 66 interceptions and seven yards per pass. But the addition of offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains isn’t encouraging. He left Chicago after an impressionable rookie, Mitchell Trubisky, started taking snaps under center in his miserably conservative offense, and Miami’s depth chart is even worse.

Like the Bills, defense will carry the Dolphins in 2018.

The Kansas City Chiefs got risky, promoting Eric Bieniemy to offensive coordinator from running backs coach right as they waved goodbye to the Alex Smith era after his career year.

Luckily, the Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes.

Last year’s No. 10 pick had an encouraging performance during a Week 17 win over the Broncos, lending credibility to the idea he’ll do fine as a sophomore quarterback.

It helps that the Chiefs have Kareem Hunt, last year’s 1,327-yard runner Cheap Goalie Jerseys who had eight touchdowns on a 4.9-per-carry average. Also returning are Hill and Cheap Full Dye Softball Jerseys Kelce, reliable targets who one year ago both hit the 1,000-yard mark while combining for 16 touchdowns.

That’s a tough question, Gase told the Around The NFL Podcast.

Hopefully we’re developing the kind of team that figures out the right way to win the game for that week.

According to multiple sources with direct knowledge of the situation, the league expects by April to have a buyer selected for the Carolina Panthers, who are up for sale now in the wake of misconduct allegations involving owner Jerry Richardson. The plan is to have the buyer vetted and ready to be voted on at the spring meeting in May. Richardson didn’t make the trip to Florida, but the sale of his team, hastened by an SI story detailing a toxic workplace environment, has been a topic of discussion in hallways and on barstools at the meetings. The goal, according to sources, has been to get the bidding for the team into the range of $2.6 billion.

(The last NFL franchise to go on the market, the Bills, sold for $1.1 billion in 2014.) It’s unclear at this point whether or not Richardson will get that $2.6 billion figure, but two potential buyers have emerged from the fray. The favorite from the beginning has been hedge fund manager David Tepper, a Steelers minority owner whom NFL owners have long believed to be well-equipped to join their ranks.

An owner and a GM told Pelissero they believe the targeting rule has enough support to pass. The committee is quickly putting the proposition together in hopes for a possible vote Tuesday, but work needs to be done on the language of the rule and enforcement.

Adding the targeting rule comes as the league grows more concerned with dangerous helmet-to-helmet hits that can cause serious injuries and lead to increases in concussions.

In our ongoing study of how to make the game better, we just seemed to see more lowering of the head, said Dallas Cowboys executive Stephen Jones, a member of the competition committee, previously told Pelissero.

Always we’re looking at ways to improve and make the game safer. And when you look at the plays where the players are dropping their head, we’re doing a good job of Sports Cheap Jerseys catching it after the fact with fines and things of that nature, but probably can do Tom Brady Cheap Jerseys a better job of making the call on the field that hopefully we’ll even emphasize more. Heads-up football.

Pitching dominates competitive Rangers-A’s series

Two pitchers coming off strong season-opening efforts go head-to-head Wednesday night when the Texas Rangers and Oakland Athletics meet for the third time in their four-game series.

The Rangers will send Doug Fister (1-0), a winner in his first start over Houston, against Oakland lefty Sean Manaea (0-1), a hard-luck loser his first time out against the Los Angeles Angels.

The teams have split a pair of low-scoring affairs to open the series, with the A’s scoring two late runs to prevail 3-1 on Monday, before the Rangers did all their scoring early in a 4-1 triumph Tuesday.

Oakland got no help from the Texas defense, which played error-free ball for the fifth time in six games.

It really picked me up, Fister praised of the defense in his impressive season debut. It’s a big key for us, especially coming off spring training.

Fister will have to deal with A’s first baseman Matt Olson, who has had two hits in each of the first two games of the series.

They’ve dueled only twice in their careers, with Olson belting a two-run homer and drawing a walk.

The offensive highlight Tuesday was Adrian Beltre’s second-inning single, the 3,053rd hit of his major league career.

It allowed him to tie Rod Carew for the most by a Latin American player. They now share 24th place on Major League Baseball’s all-time list, only two behind former A’s star Rickey Henderson.

Beltre went 1-for-4 on Tuesday and is hitting .227 this season.

The veteran has four of his 3,053 career hits against Manaea in 12 at-bats.

Joey Gallo, who hit his second home run of the season off Kendall Graveman on Tuesday, homered in his first at-bat against Manaea last April.

The 2015 All-Star allowed two hits after teammate Lance McCullers Jr. struck out 10 in another easy Houston win Saturday. They followed a pair of Cy Young Award winners to the mound in Justin Verlander and Dallas Keuchel.

Cole started on opening day last year for Pittsburgh before an offseason trade to the Astros.

This is obviously high-end stuff across the board, Houston manager A.J. Hinch said. Gerrit would have pitched opening day for a lot of teams, and to have him pitch the fourth game Cheap Red Wings Jerseys of the year is really indicative of the depth of this rotation.

The first hit off Cole (1-0) was slugger Joey Gallo’s opposite-field Cheap Quality NFL Jerseys homer just over the tall wall in left field in the first inning against a four-man outfield. Third baseman Alex Bregman gave chase down the line on Gallo’s first of the season.

It’s been a strong offseason for the Buffalo Bills as the new regime looks to put its fingerprints on the roster rebuild.

Trading incumbent quarterback Tyrod Taylor and left tackle Cordy Glenn freed up $15.9 million in cap space, allowing them to shore up the defensive tackle spot with Star Lotulelei. But the assets they acquired in those two trades were just as important, as the 12th overall pick and third-round pick in the draft will help them land their franchise quarterback.

Armed with six of the top 96 selections, Buffalo has plenty of assets to get into the top four and grab one of the best signal-caller prospects. As long as it hits on its evaluation and development of that player, it doesn’t matter too much what it gives up to get him. The jump from No. 21 to No. 12 was reminiscent of the Philadelphia Eagles’ move from No. 13 to No. 8 in 2016, which set up a second trade that turned into Carson Wentz.

Delgado kept the Pirates in the game, though. Azubuike went to the bench with four fouls with about 9 minutes left, and coach Kevin Willard instructed his own guys to go right back to their center.

Delgado was so effective that Self gambled by putting ‘Doke right back in the game.

Lawrence was one of the biggest breakout performers last year, setting a career high with 14.5 sacks and establishing himself as an elite edge-rusher. Dallas has needed that type of production, and with a bare pass-rusher market, it simply couldn’t afford to let Lawrence field outside offers. Even on his $17.1 million franchise tag, the Cowboys are saving money compared to what a long-term deal would cost.

Kicking the can on paying the 25-year-old is risky, but it will allow Dallas to improve its finances as its major deals become easier to shed.

There had been rumors the Denver Broncos could entertain trading Emmanuel Sanders and/or Demaryius Thomas this offseason. The idea was baffling, as the Broncos were clearly readying to Echl Cheap Jerseys pursue a quarterback prior to free agency. General manager John Elway agreed the Flyers Cheap Jerseys receivers were key cogs, and Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post reported Elway said both would return in 2018.

Will Jake Arrieta be great or just good with the Phillies?

However, this season starts in less than three weeks. Arrieta might not be ready for the start of it, and the Phillies, certainly trending toward contention at some point, are not the Cubs, neither in overall scope nor with likely the offensive run support or defensive chops. It is also at least worth noting Arrieta moves to a hitter-friendly home ballpark unlike more neutral Wrigley Field, where he was considerably better each of his past two campaigns.

As they stumble to the end of the season, the Rangers are probably going to lose more on Broadway than that Spider-Man musical did. But that doesn’t mean some of their players don’t have something to play for, and Spooner is one of those guys. He had 12 points in his first seven games with the team. He’s a pending restricted free agent, and the Rangers are going to want to see what they have here. Worth a look for you, too.

Raanta continues to be a ray of desert sunshine in an otherwise overcast and arid season for GM John Chayka. If he’s available, snag him. Not only is Raanta putting up better than respectable numbers on a bad team (.924 save percentage), but he’ll face a good number of shots each night, too. The Coyotes have seven games during this stretch, so he’ll see some action, provided his lower-body injury isn’t a hindrance.

When Dallas News writer Mike Heika says something might be up with Benn’s health, you listen — and there’s something off about him right now. Benn has three goals since Jan. 25, although he’s picked up 10 assists since then. Dallas has four home games and nine road games left, and Benn’s been a weaker performer on the road. It’s tough to say goodbye to a dude who can help you across the board, but if you roster him, perhaps it’s time to put him on your bench. If your league doesn’t have a trade deadline, it’s also worth poking around and seeing if someone will make a deal based on reputation. (And if so, see if they’ll take Jason Spezza, too.)

Hoo boy, the clock has struck midnight and he’s turned back into a pumpkin. Schenn’s still Cheap Elite Jerseys second on the Blues in scoring (behind Vladimir Tarasenko), but his pace has fallen off a cliff. Schenn has four points, including one goal, since Feb. 9. There’s a chance things could spiral for the Blues down the stretch, and we imagine Schenn’s performance could reflect that.

The Blue Jackets only had Seth Jones for two periods. It turned out to Cheap Dog Jerseys be more than enough.

The Patriots were unable to stop the Eagles from winning their first Super Bowl in franchise history as Philadelphia survived to win 41-33 Sunday in Minneapolis.

Super Bowl 52 was filled with excitement and scoring. Tom Brady and Nick Foles traded touchdown passes most of the second half, as both teams lit up the scoreboard. But it was ultimately an Eagles defensive play that cost the Patriots another title.

Brady was only sacked once, but it was one of the most costly plays of the game. Brady didn’t look quite as comfortable in the pocket as usual, but he wasn’t given the time to make accurate throws when the game was on the wire.

3. The Patriots lacked offensive balance — When Brady is hot it’s hard to go away from him, but New England needed to kill some clock in the second half and was unable to do so. New England’s drives were short and effective, but its inability to control the game clock hurt in the fourth quarter.

James White led the Patriots’ ground game with 45 yards and a touchdown, while starter Dion Lewis rushed for just 39 yards on nine carries. Brady and Rob Gronkowski tied Joe Montana and Jerry Rice for the most in NFL postseason touchdowns (12) in history. Still, the Patriots needed more out of their rushing attack.

When the high-scoring affair that had just one punt ended, it was a defensive play that helped the Eagles hang on for a 41-33 victory in Super Bowl 52.

Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham stripped the ball from Patriots quarterback Tom Brady with 2:09 remaining and rookie Derek Barnett recovered to help the Eagles seal the first Super Bowl championship in franchise history.

But as great as Brady played, Eagles quarterback Nick Foles was just as good. Foles was 28 of 43 for 373 yards and three touchdowns and an interception. Brady’s pass total was the most in NFL postseason history and Foles had the fifth-most yards in a Super Bowl.

2. Doug Pederson left nothing to chance — Pederson definitely coached to win and a pair of gutsy fourth-down calls stood out. After Clement’s 55-yard reception, the Eagles were faced with a fourth-and-goal from the Patriots’ 1-yard line.

“We had just gotten all the way down the field and I wasn’t going to let the offense stop at the 1-yard line,” Pederson told NBC Sports before halftime. “It was a play we were working NHL Hockey Jerseys on the past Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap couple weeks. Our guys executed brilliantly.”

Among the FCS’s best running backs the last two seasons, Edmonds ended his productive college career with another outstanding season.

As a quick-twitch, elusive, open-field runner, he has remarkable lateral quickness and footwork in traffic, allowing him to maintain explosive bursts at the second level and regain his top speed as he adjusts upfield.

The Rams may or may not have staying power this season. But McVay has Jared Goff on his way to being a franchise QB. He is taking full advantage of the talents of RB Todd Gurley. And he has the Rams looking like a winner.

Cam Newton was very sharp as a passer Sunday at New England as the Carolina offense made the Patriots’ defense look overmatched. That was an improved showing by a Panthers offense that is without injured TE Greg Olsen and didn’t get much production out of rookie RB Christian McCaffrey. If Newton is going to throw the ball that way, watch out for the Panthers.

It’s stunning that the defense is this bad right now. The Patriots re-signed LB Dont’a Hightower (although he’d been sidelined with a knee injury until returning Sunday), retained CB Malcolm Butler Cheap Eagles Jerseys and added CB Stephon Gilmore in the offseason after leading the league in scoring defense last season. Some scrutiny must be aimed at defensive coordinator Matt Patricia; there is also room to wonder whether backup QB Jimmy Garoppolo should have been traded in the offseason for help on defense.

Even the customary late-game exploits of QB Tom Brady are not enough at Cheap Football Jerseys this point. But this might just mean that everyone will be saying, “Remember when the Patriots were 1-2 at home and 2-2 overall?” as they celebrate another Super Bowl title in February.

And then on Saturday, Deion Jones manned up on Sammy Watkins (or manhandled him, depending on your perspective), and the Rams followed that up by going four-and-out … for the season. They’ll be back, although losing QB coach Greg Olson to the Las Vegas Grudens hurts something fierce.

This game would’ve been a lot closer without Thomas.

Part of the problem is that it’s hard to find good head coaches, and most of the ones hired in this cycle aren’t going to work out. Everybody wants to find the next Sean McVay, but it’s more possible than not that there is no McVay in this year’s field of candidates. (And by the way, I get why everyone wants to find the next McVay, but didn’t Jacksonville go in the exact opposite direction and win only one fewer game than the Rams? Why aren’t teams trying to find the next old-school Tom Coughlin/Doug Marrone combo to design a boot-camp-style training camp and whip their sorry groups into shape?)

It’s tough to find the right guy, but teams could do a better job of helping their chances to succeed. For instance, I disagree with the separation-of-powers Giants hiring the general manager before the coach. And I kind of disagree with the Bears firing the coach and extending the GM. I think the coach is the more important hire, and if you’re doing this, you need to make sure the coach-GM combo is in lockstep and that the coach is OK with the GM. San Francisco did this last offseason. Buffalo kind of did, too, though it took a little longer to sort it all out. Would the Giants be in a better situation now if they’d changed the coach and GM together two years ago instead of just one?

Regardless, I’ll repeat my annual sermon here about coaches. You’ll hear a lot about “defensive-minded” and “offensive-minded” head coaches, and which your team needs. It’s baloney. What your team needs, no matter which team we’re talking about, is a leader of men. An NFL head coach has to be someone who can communicate and implement his vision for how to win games, who can assess his roster and figure out a way to win with it (not turn it over to bring in only players who “fit his system”). Offense, defense, whatever … this is the head coach. It’s not easy, but it’s essential.

He only played about four minutes in the quarter, but his impact was clear. When the quarter started, the score was 91-87. Thomas sparked a 7-0 run with his playmaking to push the lead up to 100-91.

In just under a minute of play, Thomas made all three of those plays putting the game away. Obviously, it’s a small sample but it’s exactly what James and the Cavaliers wanted to see out of their All-Star point guard.

In one of The Good Life scenes, Jacinto’s character, Jason, asks Ted Danson’s character, Michael, if the Jaguars will ever win the Super Bowl. Michael responds, “Jason, I can’t predict the future. But no. They won’t.”

Should the Jags continue to rewrite history, Mande said he would be Wholesale NFL Jerseys at the Super Bowl parade. While he is happy to be wrong in this case, Mande said there’s Nike NFL Jerseys From China one prediction he figures will stick.

“We mentioned the Cleveland Browns sucking in Season One,” he said, chuckling. “I don’t expect that to change.”

It appears that both Chicago and Ottawa’s windows to win are either closed or only open a crack.

When we hear analysts refer to teams’ “window to win,” it can mean one of two things: Franchise players are in their prime or a good-not-great club has all of its best players peaking at once.

For example, the Chicago Blackhawks routinely traded their early-round draft picks at the deadline for role players while superstars Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane were at the height of their powers. Last season, we saw the Ottawa Senators ride a hot streak to the Eastern Conference Final — only to have a predictable slide backward this season.

And once that window slams shut, it’s rebuilding time.

At the end of last season, the Los Angeles Kings’ window looked like it was closed, locked and boarded up. They finished 2016-17 with 86 standings points and scored the fourth fewest even-strength goals in the NHL behind three franchises building from scratch (Colorado, New Jersey, Buffalo).

Lacking the cap room to make a big free-agent splash and with few exciting prospects coming through the system, the Kings seemed to be on the cusp of fading to the back of the Pacific Division.

The Celtics are hoping that Marc Gasol and Mike Conley will be past their primes by 2019. If the Grizzlies pick in the top eight then, the pick becomes top-six protected in 2020 and completely unprotected in 2021.

This trade was one of the more puzzling ones from the 2016 draft. The Celtics traded Deyonta Davis (the No. 31 pick) and the rights to the No. 35 overall pick (someone named Rade Zagorac) to Memphis for a top-14 protected first round pick in 2019.

The Grizzlies got this pick when the Clippers traded Lance Stephenson for Jeff Green in Feb. 2016. Jeff Green: the gift that keeps on giving.

One thing about the Steelers: They tend to play much closer games than they should. Based on talent alone, they probably are the NFL’s most skilled squad.

Here comes Jacksonville, following an offensive stinker in beating outmanned Buffalo. Logic says this should be a rout.

Forget logic and remember that Ben Roethlisberger was so victimized in a MLB Jerseys China 30-9 Week 5 loss to the Jaguars that he had one of the worst games of his career.

There’s also the Antonio Brown factor: How healthy is the unanimous All-Pro receiver, who was injured in Week 15?

Jacksonville has a staunch defense with a terrific pass rush, too. Its New Nike NFL Jerseys secondary is among the league’s best.
